Why join KLA?

  • Cost effective.  We have three levels of participation:  full KLA - $600; cadre only - $350; national consultants only - $350
  • Additional savings.  For each 4 full KLA participants, districts may register an additional participant at no cost; plus for each district with one KLA participant, superintendents (or designee) are invited to attend as guests (six full memberships for the price of four!)
  • Non-network participants.  KDE’s content specialists will provide a “down and dirty” version of the Leadership Network content.  All related materials will be provided.
  • State initiatives.  Participants will have access to the most recent information regarding Kentucky’s Teacher and Principal Effectiveness Project, the Gates Grant work, etc.
  • PLC’s.  This year part of each session will include modeling PLC’s which will provide best practice ideas for implementing at the local level.  Participants will select a focus group for the entire year.
  • National consultants.  We have three of the top national consultants joining us – Marc Prensky - teaching digital natives; Alan Jones - improving Instruction; and Todd Whitaker - leading change
  • Regional locations.  To save travel time and expense, we are offering 7 regional sessions:  Princeton, Elizabethtown, Williamstown, Lexington, Somerset, Prestonsburg, and Ashland.
  • EILA credit.  Participants can acquire up to 54 hours instructional leadership hours in one year.
  • Certified evaluation update.  With our focus on improved teacher practice and evaluation, KLA meets the requirements for certified evaluation update training.
  • Networking.  In the past, one of our greatest accolades was providing school and district leaders the opportunity to network with regional/state colleagues.
  • Online resources.  KLA training materials and additional resources are available on the KASA web site.
