Workshop for Leveraging Your Leadership Skills: A Practical Approach for Aspiring Superintendents
This training provides a practical approach to gaining the knowledge, skills, tools and confidence needed to pursue a position as a superintendent that is the right fit for both the candidate and the school district. Participants learn powerful steps to enhance their chances of being appointed superintendent while gaining an understanding of what to expect once they become an applicant, ranging from what jobs to apply for to the interview with the board of education to being named superintendent.
Aspiring Superintendent Online Community
This online professional community is available to those who attended the above workshop. Community members will enjoy continued conversation with the instructor, colleagues and other presenters; discussion forums; and Q&A in a closed community. Access to the community is granted upon completion of the course.

OnBoarding and Continued Learning
In addition to KASA's annual summer institute, there are specific meetings and workshops designed to give new superintendents the very best onboarding, continued training, support and resources for becoming or enhancing your effectiveness as a school system leader. Training opportunities include superintendent-focused sessions at KASA’s summer and finance institutes; workshops focusing on hot topics such as personnel, school finance, school law, technology; the Kentucky Leadership Academy; and A Superintendent’s First 100 Days.
New Superintendent Online Community
This online professional community is available to KASA’s member superintendents. Community members will enjoy conversation, discussion forums and Q&A in a closed community, as well as find resources such as copies of agendas, minutes, crisis and communications plans, etc.
Superintendent’s Briefing Book
This annual publication is published each fall by Educational Research Service (ERS) and KASA. The book is a vital information tool for school district leaders, providing a comprehensive, yet concise overview of a wide variety of topics that are priority concern to school district leaders. It is provided as a free resource by KASA to all new superintendents.
New Superintendents Journal
This annual publication is published each fall and includes articles written by recognized national experts on topics identified by new superintendents as areas where they need help. It is provided as a free resource by AASA and KASA to all new superintendents.
Note: The Briefing Book and Journal are delivered each fall when KASA’s executive and deputy directors visit your district.
