School Activity Fund Management and Mandated Accounting Procedures

This interactive session is designed to give school and district administrators the tools needed to manage and review activity fund accounts from a distance. It also discusses common fraud examples and identifies red flags that may be associated with fraud at the activity fund level.This session will also give detailed instruction and guidance on the uses of and procedures/internal controls related to activity fund monies generated at the individual school level. This program specifically follows the guidance published in Accounting Procedures for Kentucky School Activity Funds dated February 2008, by the Kentucky Department of Education (Finance Division). This session will definitely result in an eye-opening experience for those who participate.

About the Presenter:
Mr. Ron Flannery is known statewide for his expertise in the field of school accounting.  A partner in the firm of White & Associates, PSC; he works with school districts year-round by providing training to school leaders and finance support staff.  He has worked in over 150 Kentucky school districts providing training, auditing and school activity fraud investigations. In addition, he assists the University of Kentucky’s Gatton College of Business and the Kentucky Department of Education to certify school administrators in the area of school finance.
